Life Update: May '17

Okay, so its safe to say that I couldn't think of a snappy title but I've made a few life changes and thought I should update y'all on it. I've mentioned a few times before that I've been feeling like I'm in a bit of a limbo with life recently, what with my maternity leave ending but then not actually having anything to return to. It was tricky. As much as I would love to be a stay-at-home-mam to the boys and give them my undivided attention, it's just not possible financially for us and also I would miss regular interaction with adults. In my post regarding my plans for this year, I talked about wanting to find my calling in life and I actually stumbled headfirst into a political career.

Yup, reader. I became a councillor. As part of my '30 things before 30' list, I had already mentioned that I wanted to volunteer more for my party of choice, and I somehow went from zero to sixty pretty quickly and now I'm an elected councillor, representing the people of my ward. That's pretty cool, right? I signed on the dotted line on Monday and made it official, and my first order of business starts next week.

As nice as it would be to say I'm a full-time councillor, it's just not possible when you have a household to run and mouths to feed so I'm also looking at adding up a few part-time hours of work elsewhere. I'm also hoping that in doing so, it'll take the pressure off Joe a bit as we've been hugely dependant on his wage while I've been on maternity leave.

What else is new? Well, not too much really. I've been trying to get back into reading more as I managed to get through three books in April which is the best I've managed in about a year, so hopefully that's a good sign for things to come. However, with Orange Is The New Black and Master Of None coming back for another series on Netflix, I might have a hard time trying to choose how I spend my free time.
