Celebrate Father's Day with My 5 Top Dads

Fear not, I'm not going to list the unknown parents of Dylan's classmates but rather my favourite top 5 TV dads. I've mentioned before that I'm an avid Netflix watcher, so it did take me a little while to pick out my top five. When I heard that Currys were holding a super awesome giveaway to win an amazing £2,000 TV, I knew I had to enter for my real-life favourite dad Joe! But with so many tv shows to choose from, how could I possibly narrow it down to five?

Peter Hastings - Pretty Little Liars
I would go out on a limb and say that all of the Pretty Little Liars characters are somewhat flawed, but Peter seems to be the best of the dad bunch on this show. Sure, he had an affair with his next door neighbour that one time, and yeah he lied to his family but it was to protect his family. So, y'know, that's nice.

Tobias Funke - Arrested Development

I love Tobias more than he loves his never-nude shorts. Although Tobias and wife Lindsay tend to forget they even have a daughter, Tobias is very affectionate and searching for his daughter's approval. At one point, he even dresses up as a British nanny to be closer to Maeby after his marriage breaks down.

Walter White - Breaking Bad
When Walter finds out he has life-threatening cancer and the treatment will inevitably bankrupt his family, he realises he needs to find a way to support them. Naturally, he becomes a meth cook and the rest, they say, is history. Walter is a very complicated character, and for the majority of Breaking Bad,  he does everything to make life better for his family. That's his drive.

Jim Halpert - The Office (US)
I love Jim. There, I said it. Although it pains me that he married Pam and not me, (and that he's fictional...) he is a doting father to his super cute kids. Jim tries his best to share the parenting duties with Pam, and I think that's really commendable. Out of this entire list, Jim is probably the 'best' dad, in that he isn't an idiot/sleeping with the neighbour/cooking meth.

Frank Reynolds - It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Oh Frank. Frank is easily the funniest character on It's Always Sunny... but good god, I would never let him within 100 miles of any child. Frank is self-absorbed, sleazy and downright nasty, but they say the apple never falls far from the tree which is probably why he gets on so well with his completely awful children Dennis and Sweet Dee. Frank is always keen to help out with the latest crazy shenanigans, so I guess he does have some sort of good side to him. It's just very, very small.

It was hard, but I managed to narrow it down. I found it quite hard to think of some TV dads, so I think this is a great competition for seeking out the best on screen dads out there - even if they are a bit dodgy! Special mentions go to Stan Smith from American Dad!, Tony Soprano from The Sopranos and Sandy Cohen from The OC. Man, I loved those brows...

My top 5 TV dads! Would your list be any different?
