A is for...

Aegean!

Now, I may have mentioned this before, but my favourite place in the world (that I've visited, at least) is in Turkey. My papa is lucky enough to own a house there, and although I haven't been in five years - I could weep typing that! - it is still so special to me. If you don't know, the Aegean sea is sandwiched between Greece and Turkey, and then joins into the Mediterranean Sea. Little bit of geography for you, there!

My all-time favourite place is Turkey is called Akyaka, a little coastal town in the muğla province. It actually has it's own website, which I didn't know about, so I guess I could just shut up about it and let you see for yourselves, but that's too kind. When we visited Akyaka, I was 15 and to be honest, quite a grumpy teenager. We used to go to Turkey for weeks at a time, so this meant I was stuck with my step brother for weeks at a time, and as he's four years older than me, he just used to wind me up the entire time. Seriously, I was about ready to push him off a cliff.

Anyhoo, my dad hired a jeep for the day (as you do), and we set off down the dusty mountain road. We arrived at our destination and I was immediately blown away. This place was beautiful. It's not a tourist hotspot, so everything was unspoiled and we made sure that we covered up, as to not offend anyone. I don't think the sea has ever looked more appealing to me, and I'd do anything to go back.

Naturally, I love all of southwest Turkey that I have visited. Marmaris is probably the most known destination, although I believe it has changed a great deal since I was last there. It's a port town which sits along the Turkish Rivera, so you tend to see a lot of huuuuge cruise ships pass by, which is pretty impressive. There's also a Turkish island named after Cleopatra of Egypt as it's said that Mark Anthony picked it out for her as a wedding present. Another place I love is Turtle beach, which is owned by the turtles as they mate there. Which is pretty awesome, if you ask me.

So, that in a nutshell is my first A to Z of me!
I hope you've enjoyed reading it, and look forward to my B word. I'd love to know if you've visited Turkey, although I may get insanely jealous!
