Pets

Okay, so I've been a bit rubbish and missed out a few days of BEDM already. I really am terrible, and I imagine that something drastically bad will happen to me for doing so. To try and fix this, I thought I had better carry on with it, and today's task is about pets.

I can't remember a time when I haven't had a pet, but sadly I don't seem to have many photos of them - ultimate sadness! I do have quite a bit of Monty though, so let's just talk about him.

Seconds after this, Dylan decided to 'chalk' Monty.
Monty, Monty, Monty. Where do I start with this hairy chap? I got Monty in March 2011, when an animal-loving friend of mine found out that he was going free to a good home. Unable to have him herself (I can't even count how many pets she has), she asked if I was interested. I was. I'd only been told that he was a sausage dog, so when I saw him I was a bit surprised. I didn't even know long-haired sausage dogs existed, but I'm glad I didn't let that put me off.

Monty is the sweetest little thing. His previous owners seemed like they didn't care much for him, and made a handful of different reasons why they wanted to get rid of him. Something didn't sit right, so we happily took him home. It turns out that he was a pedigree, and this meant he would have been 'studded' to lady pedigree sausage dogs and have pedigree puppies. However, Monty had boy-doggy cancer (the technical term) and this meant he needed his bits removing. Without these, he couldn't produce puppies, and therefore he was worthless to them.

As Monty is a pedigree, his 'official' name is something like Prince Montague VII and because of this, we always imagine him to be rather posh. Which is quite funny, when you're me. Dylan loves him a bit too much, as toddlers tend to do, and is slowly learning the difference between patting Monty on the head, and smacking him in the face. Too slowly, if you ask ol' Mont.

I love him with all my heart, and he is quite affectionate - I'm clearly his favourite. I'd love to get another sausage dog, but for now I'm more than happy with this guy.

  1. Omg such a gorgeous dog! Monty is a cute name as well. So sad about his boy bits though! :)
